Sustaining Change Programme - helping you improve your group
Voluntary and community organisations in Tameside
are being given the opportunity to take part in a unique programme designed to
make them more sustainable and help them improve their environmental, social
and economic ways of working.
The Sustaining Change programme is delivered by MERCi, a Greater Manchester
sustainability charity and funded by the Big Lottery. Offering free audits,
training, a network and resources, the programme is there to help organisations
work in a way that will benefit them and the communities they work in.
The programme is open to all organisations with rented or owned premises who
employ one paid member of staff. The Sustaining Change team would especially
love to hear from environmental/green groups in Tameside but the programme is
open to all.

Ready Steady Change
9 July, Liverpool
Ready Steady Change is a free one-day course that introduces participants to a
selection of training methods and tools to enhance their skills and knowledge in
increasing children and young people’s effective
participation in decision-making. The course focuses on values, change and
action. Ready Steady Change approaches participation from a children’s rights
framework and is suitable for all individuals involved in participation work.
Safeguarding in Youth Participation
15 July, Manchester
This one-day course developed by National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS)
supports organisations in developing and applying safe policies and procedures
when working with young people. The course gives participants an understanding
of their roles and responsibilities in ensuring the safety of children and young
people. It also addresses key signs to look for if a young person is being
harmed within a project or externally. This entails an exploration of risk
assessment and how to plan safe activities to reduce the risk of children and
young people coming to harm. The key elements of child protection and
safeguarding policy and procedures will be introduced, providing participants
with the basic knowledge and understanding to write their own bespoke policy and
procedures.
