Event for young women and
women youth workers at the Water Adventure Centre

Wednesday 23 September,
5pm-10pm
Using Feminist Web's archive and resources the volunteers' group and youth
workers will run six local events across the North
West (based in youth work settings, advertised through local and national media)
to explore what body image means to young women.
WAC is one of these venues!
The young women (aged 13-25) at each event will contribute to:
- a film about young women's images of themselves/ their bodies
- a banner-making project
- a ‘zine' all about the archive
- interviewing older feminist youth workers in their area
- a 'post'-feminist' postcard campaign to send to local/national decision makers to ask for what young women need to develop and maintain positive body images.
At the events we will also:
- do some work around what sexism/feminism is
- work with the staff who come
to get them to think about and develop
their own feminist youth work practice - have a DIY challenge where
young people and staff plan a feminist
event, project or idea that they will take back to their own setting to carry out - fundraise for the Monduli Community Education Fund for Girls in Tanzania
- and because its at WAC we will also canoe!

ACEVO Autumn Conference: Modernisation in the Third
Sector – Times are changing, are you?
Liverpool,
24 September 2009
This conference will be an opportunity to explore
the spectrum of challenges which face third sector leaders today. A
volatile funding environment, a challenging fundraising arena and an
increase in demand from clients, requires the third sector to be at the
top of its game. Third sector leaders must be resilient and progressive
in order to achieve high standards of governance, accountability and
engagement on behalf of those it serves. The relationship between the
chair and the CEO of a third sector organisation is crucial to success.
