Chill Out for the Theatre Royal Hyde

Theatre Royal Onward are continuing their battle to raise funds to save the Theatre Royal Hyde and this time are really aiming high with a Big Band Special at The Lowry, Salford.

Bobby Kemp and his Big Band present ‘Ultimate Swinging Cool’, an evening of music from the Swing era, including many tributes to Frank Sinatra. Bobby made a large donation to the Theatre last August, after a highly successful event held at The Bluebell Centre, Hyde. He is so keen to help restore the Theatre that he immediately offered to arrange a second event at The Lowry.

The show will take place on Sunday 10 February at 8pm. Tickets can be booked through www.thelowry.com or by phone on 0870 787 5790. For Group booking enquiries ring 0870 787 5790.

Theatre Royal Onward are a registered charitable company.

Age Concern Tameside - Trustee event

Age Concern Tameside has obtained funding to put on an information afternoon/early evening, aimed at increasing awareness of the Board role and of the opportunities currently available for becoming a voluntary Board member of local third sector organisations. As part of this it is planned to contact local businesses, clubs, organisations and employers where there may be potential skills available and to invite these contacts to come to see how they could help the local community.

This session will be held in March (date to be confirmed) and the lead person at Age Concern Tameside is Beverley Pickles.

Any organisations which would like details of their current vacancies and skills/knowledge requirements to be available to attendees should e-mail these for the attention of Bev at picklesb@ageconcerntameside.com. These should be sent by way of an A4 word attachment to the e-mail. This attachment will then be printed off and made available to anyone who attends the event. Bev cannot carry out any typing, word processing, DTP work on the information which is sent through; it will be made available in the format it is sent to her in.

It would be useful if you could include practical information such as the frequency of Board meetings, where they take place and how often and the sort of commitment you are looking for from a potential trustee.

Please include a contact name and address or telephone number for your organisation so that anyone who is interested is able to contact you for further information.

Subject to capacity there will be some opportunities for organisations to have a stall at the event and to talk to those who attend. Bev will circulate information about this in due course.

Denise Bates, Chief Executive, Age Concern Tameside
