NEXT: Equal Opportunities Training
11 August 2008, 10am – 3.30pm
A one day course covering the law on equal opportunities and
discrimination and how to put equal opportunities into action in your
organisation
Roles and Responsibilities of being a Chairperson
20 August 2008, 10am – 1pm
The new Chairs Network – The Big Cheese – are hosting a specific workshop
for Chairs covering the Chairs role and responsibilities. It’s a great
opportunity to share each others experiences, highs and lows, swap top
tips and come up with solutions to problems you have (e.g. with chairing
meetings etc). We’ll also demonstrate how you can do a skills audit with
your committee.
Raising your profile – Marketing Training
16 September 2008, 10am – 2pm
This course gives an overview of how to publicise your group with
handouts of top tips. We cover:

Why marketing is important

Writing press releases – what have you got to say?

Local contacts – what channels can you use to get your story heard
-
Tips for radio interviews
-
Websites – the benefits and how to get a quick and easy web presence
-
Leaflets – putting together a snappy leaflet
Top tips on making funding applications
24 September, 12 – 2pm
A really useful session on how to write fantastic funding bids covering
the key ingredients all funders want to know!
Raising Awareness for Safeguarding Adults
8 October, 12 – 2pm
Do you work with adults, adults with a physical or learning disability
or
older people? Would you know what to do if you suspected they were being
abused and how to spot abuse? If not, then come along to this session to
learn more.
Management Committee Skills Training
Date to be confirmed
A one-day course covering the roles and responsibilities of a committee,
the Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and other committee members and how to
run successful meetings. A great course for anyone who is new to
committees or someone who wants a refresher course and pick up new skills
and tips!
Outcomes training
6 November, 10am – 1pm
What are they and how to go about measuring them to prove to funders,
commissioners and others the difference your organisation is making!

Next Child Protection Training date at T3SC

25 September 2008, 1pm - 4pm
This is a basic awareness raising session in promoting welfare and
safeguarding children. Its aim is to enable participants to recognise
concerns about children and respond appropriately.
By the end of the course you will:

Be aware of what is meant by child abuse and neglect
-
Be aware of your role in keeping children safe.
-
Be able to take the right steps to protect children
-
Be able to provide a safe environment for the children you work with.
The session involves some Power Point presentation, group work, flip
chart work and exploring scenarios. Contact

If you can't make this date in order that you can access it anytime
the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board invested £5000 in an e-learning
package.

lunch and
learn session - Diversity Development
Work (Drugs and
Alcohol Services)
27 August 2008, 12am
– 2pm, at T3SC
The work
within the Diversity Development post within
Tameside over the years has had some direct impact on
changing the lives of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME)
communities it has served:
-
Community members that
joined the
work programme as
volunteers or community
champions have utilised the skills learnt to develop themselves
personally and pursue further education for
career development.
-
Drug
users gained the confidence to access services with additional support and
share their experiences with BME groups about drugs misuse.
-
Famlies
and community members gained knowledge and understanding about substance
misuse issues and how to deal with the challenging issues they face.
-
Networking
and partnership working has
provided stronger ties and understanding of the BME
Communities needs and aspirations.
T3SC
are holding a lunch and learn session to disseminate ‘what has worked’
and share good practice.
If you are interested in substance misuse issues or a service provider
around substance misuse then this will be a fantastic opportunity for
you to lunch, learn and network with other like minded people.
