Free to a good home; computers

Tameside and Glossop Mind have recently upgraded their IT system and as a result have two machines available to a good home. Ashton Office Supplies have kindly taken them into their workshop to remove data and clean up the hard drives etc.

The machines are offered on a first come first served basis, and taken as seen. We do not accept any responsibility for their future usage or any loss of data that may incur. Having said that, they have served us well for about two years.

The specifications are: Hewlett Packard Intel Celeron Processor; 20GB Hard drive; 256Mb RAM; CD drive; Windows XP (no other software). If lucky they will come with a mouse and keyboard, but no monitors. Taker collects.

If interested please contact Richard on 0161 330 9223, richard@tgmind.co.uk

Sport England's consultation on sport funding

NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) welcomes Sport England's announcement of a consultation on funding for community sport. This consultation looks at how Sport England distributes National Lottery money for community sport and proposes some changes.

Carrie McKenzie, NAVCA's Strategic Sports Partnership Advisor believes it presents a real opportunity for the local third sector to ensure that the system for distributing lottery funding for community sport is as appropriate and accessible as possible.

Local voluntary and community groups can use sport to make a real difference to the lives of people in their area. Sport can contribute to tackling social exclusion, improving health and improving community cohesion. Lottery funding is vital to many small projects and it is good to see Sport England consulting on how this funding is distributed.

NAVCA encourages its members and local third sector organisations to complete the questionnaire and influence how this funding is distributed. To contribute, visit the consultation on funding for community sport on Sport England's website: www.sportengland.org/consultation

Do you have a room available to hire? - reminder

T3SC has many requests from groups and agencies looking for a venue to run their activities or hold an event. We also help community centres to promote the space they have available for people and groups to use. To help we’ve decided to put together a Room Hire Directory for Tameside. So, we’re calling all community centre, church halls and other venues – if you’ve got rooms (large or small), halls or other space available for hire, we want to hear from you!

All you need to do is contact Dawn on 0161 339 4985 or email dawn.acton@t3sc.org  who will collect some details from you. It’s a great way to promote your group, make links with new groups and earn extra income! We hope to launch the Directory in the autumn so please get in touch by the 12 September 2008.
