team!
All Tameside libraries are getting set to keep young people active and
keep them reading through the summer with the Summer Reading Challenge!
Team Read gives children a great chance to have fun with books and to
feel rewarded for reading.
The Challenge is to read six or more books during the summer, through
your local library. Children get a special pack and a set of incentives
to collect as they read, with a certificate, medal and a FREE SWIM
ticket, provided by Tameside Sports Trust, for those that successfully
complete the Challenge
Every child who completes the challenge by 1 September will be entered
into a prize draw with the chance to win a great prize for the family
provided by New Charter Housing Trust. Free weekly ‘Get Set Go!’
activities will take place at all Tameside libraries during the summer
holidays. Library staff and young volunteers will be on hand to act as
team coaches, encouraging their local library team to reach the
finishing line and that all important medal ceremony! Families are

Sport England's consultation on sport funding
NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) welcomes Sport England's announcement of a consultation on funding
for community sport. This consultation looks at how Sport England
distributes National Lottery money for community sport and proposes some
changes.

Carrie McKenzie, NAVCA's Strategic Sports Partnership Advisor believes
it presents a real opportunity for the local third sector to ensure that
the system for distributing lottery funding for community sport is as
appropriate and accessible as possible.
Local voluntary and community
groups
can use sport to make a real difference to the lives of people in their
area. Sport can contribute to tackling social exclusion, improving
health and improving community cohesion. Lottery funding is vital to many small projects and it is
good to see Sport
England consulting on how this funding is distributed.
NAVCA encourages its members and local third sector organisations to
complete the questionnaire and influence how this funding is
distributed. To contribute, visit the consultation on funding for
community sport on Sport England's website:

Do
you have a room available to hire? - reminder
T3SC has many requests from groups and agencies looking for a venue to
run their activities or hold an event. We also help community centres to
promote the space they have available for people and groups to use. To
help we’ve decided to put together a Room Hire Directory for Tameside.
So, we’re calling all community centre, church halls and other venues –
if you’ve got rooms (large or small), halls or other space available for
hire, we want to hear from you!
All you need to do is contact Dawn on 0161 339 4985 or email
dawn.acton@t3sc.org who
will collect some details from you. It’s a great way to promote your
group, make links with new groups and earn extra income! We hope to
launch the Directory in the autumn so please get in touch by the 12
September 2008.
