The 'Really Important Questions' (RIQ) Annual Conference
Tuesday 21 October from 9.30am to 3.30pm at Dukinfield Town Hall

Meet the people who manage social care services in Tameside.
This conference is for anyone aged 50+ interested in local social care and health services. It is an opportunity to find out about social care and health services and have a greater say about how these services should develop. Managers from a wide range of services in the Council, Health organisations and the voluntary sector will be at the conference to hear what people need.

This year the conference will focus on the Government’s new vision for adult social care services. Adult social care services needs to change in a way that allows older people to have the best possible quality of life and live full and purposeful lives. What needs to be done to make this vision a reality? This is an opportunity to take part in discussion groups and say what you think needs to be done.

The conference is free of charge and lunch and refreshments will be provided. Access needs can also be arranged. The RIQ conference is very popular so early booking is essential. Please contact the conference organisers for a booking form.

Artists turn ‘Rags into Riches’ with community’s help
30-31 August, Woodend mill, Mossley

Local Woodend Artists are working with Mossley’s community groups to create works of art from stuff that is usually thrown away!  Using the theme of ‘recycle, reuse, reclaim’, the Rags to Riches’ exhibition at Woodend Mill on 30 and 31 August will showcase work produced by children, young people and
local residents, alongside installations and artwork created by the artists and designer-makers at the mill.

The weekend event is part of an Arts Council funded six-week programme, which aims to include local groups in the creative activities at Woodend Mill in Mossley whilst also highlighting the benefits of recycling and re-using your rubbish.

Artists are working with Mossley Library, the Youth Base, after-school groups and New Charter’s Dreamscheme using a variety of materials and skills to create artwork.  There will be further opportunities to get involved during the event, with workshops in paper-making, drawing and painting, composting and making birdhouses available.
